We were fortunate to have some extended time with my grandma this week. The kids enjoyed some one on one time. Gram sang them lots of songs, read books, and even played play-doh with them.

And, of course, we did not let too much time go by before having her make her famous cherry pie! Later, my parents came by for a visit and brought some of my grandma's former students by that had just been in town to visit a golf shop.
On Thursday, we spent the afternoon at Meijer Gardens. My grandma has a great love for flowers, so I knew she would enjoy it, even if they were in between their regular seasonal displays. When we got there, we discovered the butterfly house was up and running. There were very few visitors on this particular day, and we got to see a lot of butterflies already flying about! There were also many ready to pop from their chrysalis homes any time. I asked my grandma what her favorite flower was, and she answered that she always loved lily of the valley growing up. And today, she said there are simply just too many beautiful ones to choose. We also discovered a new play place at the gardens. There is a room set up with a replica of the gardens in large wooden pieces that the kids can maneuver to their liking. It was only a matter of time before Drew and Bree had the place to themselves, and they absolutely loved it! Wish I had remembered to take my camera with me. We will return when Gram visits again.
