Two Year Molars for my Two Year Old

Hi All,
Well, it didn't take long for Drew to work on his two year molars. He's been drooling and chewing on his hand for a week. I convinced him to let me reach my hand in his mouth, and I found top and bottom two year molars on the left side.

Cuspids for Bree

Hi All,
Just thought I'd note for the record that Bree now has both lower cuspids. I reported back in December that one might be peeking through. It seemed to take forever, but they are both finally in. That makes fourteen teeth in total for Bree right now - just a couple more cuspids and all the two year molars to go for a full set!

Cuspids On the Way

Hi All,
Well Drew now appears to be working on a full set of cuspids. The last one of the bunch (upper right) is peeking through to join the rest. I think it may have caused a bit of discomfort, but he's taking it really well. Whew!
As for Bree, I believe she also has her first cuspid making it's appearance. She is not a fan of letting me look in her mouth, but I'm pretty sure I spotted a white point in the lower gum. She woke up from her nap with one rosy red cheek, and she's been irritated off and on since Saturday. Hope it passes soon!

Cuspid Times Three

Hi All,
Sure enough, Drew has another cuspid in sight! It's the lower right one. I wouldn't doubt #4 is lurking in there too. But it's not easy to get a good view of the inside of his mouth these days - too wiggly! With fifteen teeth in total, it's feeling like we are in the home stretch on the teething front for Drew. Hooray!

Cuspids with an "S"

Hi All,
Well, it's not just one, but two cuspids that Drew is sporting! His lower left is also peeking out. This makes 14 teeth in total for Drew.

Cuspid

Hi All,
Drew has his first cuspid peeking through his gums! It's the upper left cuspid. At almost 21 months, he was due for some. He's handling it great. I'm so glad he's not uncomfortable with it!

Bottom Choppers

Hi All,
I reported Bree's top molars were in sight just a short while ago. Well, now I can see both of her lower first molars poking through. Once these are in place, she will be all caught up with Drew! (Twelve teeth in total for both of them.)

Top Choppers

Hi All,
I spotted two first molars in Bree's mouth today. They are the upper first molars. It could explain some of her general "unease" lately. But, they will prove useful in the long run!

Tons of Teeth

Hi All,
I returned home from our trip to find Bree is really going to town on some teeth! She has a total of four teeth working their way out at the moment - three upper (right and left lateral incisors and right central incisor) and one lower (right lateral incisor). It's surely bothering her some, but she is keeping fairly good spirits about it. Thank goodness!

Another Tooth for Bree

Hi All,
I spotted another tooth for Bree today - it's her bottom left lateral incisor (the tooth next to the front teeth). I think that makes #4 for her. There was a faker up on top for awhile. She's doing okay with the teething, but I'm getting the feeling that it bothers her some. She wanted to be held a lot today and she did not have much of an appetite. I'm sure she will bounce back soon!

Molar #4

Hi All,
I caught a glimpse of molar #4 for Drew this morning. This one is the lower right first molar (and the last of the first molars). Twelve teeth for Drew!

Molar #3

Hi All,
Drew has his third molar popping through (lower left first molar). That's three in two weeks!

Molar #2

Drew has a molar poking through opposite of the other one coming in. That makes this one the upper left first molar. This makes tooth #10 for him, which means he's half way to having a full set of baby teeth!

More Tooth Action

Hi All,
Bree has another tooth (or maybe two) on it's way. Her top front tooth (left central incisor) and possibly the lateral incisor next to it are working their way down. We're happy she is finally seeing some action in the tooth department!

Holy Molar!

Hi All,
To my surprise, I spotted a molar in Drew's mouth today. That makes tooth #9 for him. It's the upper right first molar. The surprising part was that he does not have any cuspids yet. His teeth have been predictable so far and have come "in order", until now that is. But, I guess it's not at all unusual.
It was a nice surprise and a bit of a relief to see the tooth, because Drew had a few bad spells this week. For two nights, he woke up and cried for an hour, despite all my efforts to calm him. I was getting a little worried that it could mean an ear infection, but the timing was right for teething troubles to be the culprit. I'll take a new tooth over an ear infection any day!

Two-fers

Hi All,
Big news! Bree has tooth #2 on the way. The bottom right central incisor is in sight. We didn't notice too much discomfort with this one - yay!

Teeth, Teeth Everywhere

Hi All,
We returned from from our weekend trip to find another tooth poking through in Drew's mouth. This is # 8, and it's the lower right later incisor. I'm guessing it was pretty painless for him, as he hasn't shown any signs of discomfort. In fact, the biggest downside to Drew's teeth coming in has been some bad episodes of biting - ugh! Bree and I are his usual victims, probably because we see him the most. It's not a big deal when he bites me, although I can attest to how much it hurts. It's very upsetting to me (and her) when he bites Bree though. It's been difficult to address, because I think in his mind, he is just playing most of the time. By most of the time, I mean I've also seen him in bite mode when he and Bree are fighting over a toy. We're trying a few correctional tactics with some success.

Here are a few more pictures from this evening that were taken upon our return from Chicago...

Toofy Goofys

Hi All,
Drew and Bree sometimes get a case of "the goofys", and here are some pictures to prove it. :)  Their toothbrushes have been a big hit. Okay, so they mostly like to chew on them. But Drew is putting on a pretty good act here! The good news is they don't mind Jim and I brushing their teeth for them. They sometimes like to reciprocate and help us brush ours, too. If you've never had your teeth brushed by a 13 month old (or better, yet - two of them), I highly recommend it! :)

Toothless No More!

Hi All,
Well, it finally happened. Bree has a tooth! Today we noticed the pearly white peeking out - bottom left central incisor. While we never really doubted they were there, it's nice to see some proof!

And, on a more serious note, Drew gave me a huge scare this morning. After breakfast, I got the kids out of their high chairs and proceeded to the sink to wash off their trays. Bree was nearby and fussing a bit. So, I was watching her as I cleaned. As I finished with the trays and picked up Bree, I scanned the room for Drew, who was nowhere to be seen. But then, to my horror, I saw the sliding glass door was pushed open. (I had left it shut, but unlocked, as the animals frequently want in and out.) I very abruptly set Bree down and ran to the door to see Drew's bottom pointing downwards ready to descend the steep deck stairs. I don't think I've ever been this scared in Drew and Bree's short lifetime. I shudder to think what could have been, had I not shown up when I did. We haven't done much practice on stairs, and these were wet and steep. For whatever reason, I can't stop playing the scenario over and over in my head and imagining him tumbling to the cement landing below; it just makes me feel awful! Lesson learned. We are now officially in lock down mode around the house. Jim came home and was able to rig up a baby gate at the deck stairwell for added security.

Switching gears back to a lighter topic, we got the kids outside for a bit tonight. The warm weather made for a pleasant evening. And, based on the last story, are you surprised we set up the baby jail?!? Jim's brother and sister-in-law passed this along from their baby days, and it works great! Well, at least Jim and I think so. Not sure the little Mannings agree. :)

"Perhaps I can scale the walls..."

"Bree, don't worry, I'll find a way to spring us from this joint."

Tooth 7 - Come on Down!

Hi All,
Drew has another tooth poking through - #7 for him. This time it is the upper right lateral incisor, to match the left one that showed up ten days ago. This is literally three teeth in a matter of two weeks. He'll be ordering steak in no time!
