Cuspids On the Way

Hi All,
Well Drew now appears to be working on a full set of cuspids. The last one of the bunch (upper right) is peeking through to join the rest. I think it may have caused a bit of discomfort, but he's taking it really well. Whew!
As for Bree, I believe she also has her first cuspid making it's appearance. She is not a fan of letting me look in her mouth, but I'm pretty sure I spotted a white point in the lower gum. She woke up from her nap with one rosy red cheek, and she's been irritated off and on since Saturday. Hope it passes soon!

Cuspid

Hi All,
Drew has his first cuspid peeking through his gums! It's the upper left cuspid. At almost 21 months, he was due for some. He's handling it great. I'm so glad he's not uncomfortable with it!

Holy Molar!

Hi All,
To my surprise, I spotted a molar in Drew's mouth today. That makes tooth #9 for him. It's the upper right first molar. The surprising part was that he does not have any cuspids yet. His teeth have been predictable so far and have come "in order", until now that is. But, I guess it's not at all unusual.
It was a nice surprise and a bit of a relief to see the tooth, because Drew had a few bad spells this week. For two nights, he woke up and cried for an hour, despite all my efforts to calm him. I was getting a little worried that it could mean an ear infection, but the timing was right for teething troubles to be the culprit. I'll take a new tooth over an ear infection any day!

Today's News = Teeth

Hi All,
In today's news, Drew is now the proud owner of a toothbrush. Bree is too, for that matter, even though she doesn't have any teeth yet! Jim visited the dentist, and she said it was time for Drew to start brushing his four teeth. They have small children's size brushes, and they seem to like to hold them and chew on them. We'll help them with the brushing part. No fluoride toothpaste yet, so we can go without or get some children's toothpaste.

In other teeth news, I know Bree's teeth are on the way, in no uncertain terms. I feel like I've said this before! But she had a runny nose, excessive drooling and some discomfort this evening before bedtime, which we treated with Tylenol. Then, she woke up screaming at 11:45 and did not stop when I picked her up. She is the good sleeper, and that's certainly not in her nature.  Poor little peanut! Looks like it's going to be a long night.

Jingle Bells

Hi All,
Jim and I had a brief getaway the weekend after New Years. We went and stayed at a resort up north. We tried out some snowshoes, had a nice dinner a got a much-needed good night's sleep.  We also got a sleigh ride around the property. It was a cold, but pretty ride! Meanwhile, Drew and Bree were warm and cozy at home with Grandma and Grandpa. The pictures tell me they had lots of fun!
Sunday evening after we returned, Drew had his typical sleep issues. But tonight was different, in that he was not immediately comforted when I picked him up. Monday morning, I checked out his gums and decided his two upper front teeth were making their way down.

Oh what fun it is to ride in a "two" horse open sleigh!

Not missing Mom and Dad quite yet!

Bree's now famous wave

"We love blocks, yes we do!"

The bat is another "big hit"

"Do we look like we're ready for bed?!?!"

And a big smile for Mom when she got home

Terrible Teething

Hello All,
It seems we are once again in the throngs of teething. Bree had the fussies all day. She went to bed on the early side (6:15). But, she woke up very upset around 8:00. By 9:00 we realized this was not going to take care of itself, as she cried and sobbed. We gave her a dose of Tylenol, and I rocked her for a few hours. We also got out the refrigerated teether. (She has been using the razzberry teether a lot, which usually does wonders - but not so much tonight.) She enjoyed the teether for about 15 minutes and even dozed off to sleep for a few minutes at a time. But, the teething pain must've been too much for her, as she could not sleep for too long. I got out the stroller around 11:00, and we strolled around the house. Yes, we use the stroller in the house in cold weather! It actually did the trick, and Bree is sleeping in the stroller as I type. I'm waiting to see if she's out for good before I move her to her crib. We'll keep you updated on any visible teeth. I KNOW they're coming! I just hope it's soon, so my baby can get some relief.

Teeth, Need I Say More?

Hi All,

We have more news on the home front. I happened to notice this morning that Drew's lower gum looked swollen. Well, this afternoon he had a mild case of the cranks. As I was headed out the door this evening, I asked Jim to check out his gums. Sure enough, we have two teeth peeking through his lower gum! Drew's first teeth are arriving 5 days before the twins turn 8 months old. As always, time marches on. I'm so glad Drew is weathering the teething so well. As wonderful (and useful) as teeth are, boy am I going to miss these toothless grins......

To Teethe or Not To Teethe?

Hi All,
That is the question of the day. We're not sure, but it seems the kiddos have started into teething. There is a lot of this going on lately.....
Yes, Bree especially is constantly sucking fingers, or anything we let her suck for that matter. She got a big case of the rosy cheeks a few nights back, and there does seem to be a bit of additional irritability. Oh yeah, we're also doing lots of drooling! They seem a bit young to be starting this though. I thought teething started around 6 months. Drew and Bree are 4 1/2 months and even less if you factor in their 3 week early arrival. How long does this last? Is it going to get worse before it gets better?

In other news.....

This one was just too cute to not share!

The twins, plotting?????

Catching a nap - bouncy style

Catching a nap - Mommy style

We think Bree likes her Daddy
