Go State!

Hi All,
We may have said it before, but it bears repeating!

"Wait for it"

And... "Go State!"

Double #1s for emphasis!

PS - I am super impressed with Drew that he got these foam fingers (and his sister's hat) on all by himself . Go Drew!

Tailgate! Go State!

Hi All,
We took the kiddos to the MSU-Wisconsin tailgate this year. We plan to always get them to at least one every year, so all my tailgate buddies get a chance to see them. We had a cold but nice enough day. And inside all the pop-up tents was warm and toasty as usual, with multiple heaters running.
The kids weren't quite sure what to think of it all. But they did a good job hanging with the group.
Jim and I have also started a tradition of deep frying a turkey for one tailgate each year, so we also brought the turkey to this game. It was tasty as usual.
The only casualty of the day was poor Bree reached out and touched the grill on one of the heaters. She got an instant burn, but took it like a champ for the remainder of the tailgate.
My sister and I went on to the game, where MSU surprised us with a huge 34-24 win over favored Wisconsin. Another good day to be a Spartan! Go State!

"Refreshments! Think I'll help myself."

"I'll just sit here and wait to be served!"

"Uh oh, is that a Wisconsin fan in the red? Who let him in?"

Just happy to be here!

Jim is all business here getting the turkey carved.

"More, please!"

"Look, my auntie is here!"

"Whoa! Somebody cut Dad off!"

"I can almost fit this whole thing in my mouth - maybe next year."

State Fans

 Hi All,
We declared Saturday "State Day" (as every day should be) in honor of MSU taking on the Irish of Notre Dame. Drew and Bree cheered for the Spartans with Grandma and Grandpa from the home front, while I went to see the game live, complete with a little tailgating. (Jim was off in Green Bay also enjoying a football weekend.) Our team did not disappoint. We won a shocker in overtime, with a field goal fake, thrown for a touchdown on 4th and 14! Final Score: MSU 34 - ND 31. Love it!

"Proud to be a Spartan!"

"Me too!"

Watching the game - looks like a tense moment...

"Go ahead and get us as many toys as you want - we love the boxes they come in!"

We're Proud of our Team!

Hi All,
We've been on the March Madness bandwagon, and once again our Spartans are shining. We've sustained some pretty substantial injuries, including a torn Achilles tendon for Kalin Lucas, our floor general. Yet, somehow, this team has found a way into the Final Four in Indianapolis this weekend! Coach Izzo has taken his team there six times in the last twelve years - is he amazing or what?!?

This is me and my good friend Monica at the Final Four in Indianapolis ten years ago (2000) when we won the national championship.

I sometimes miss those days, when I could just pick up and say "Hey, let's head to Indy this weekend for some basketball." But not too much. I have some pretty special Spartan fans right here at home!

We've Got Spirit

Hi All,
You didn't think we would only post CMU gear without following it up with some MSU spirit, did you? Drew and Bree visited Grandma and Grandpa and watched some Spartan basketball. Hopefully, they'll get in the habit of cheering for the Spartans! As usual, MSU has a first rate basketball team. And Izzo is the best coach ever. So we have high hopes for them. Go State!!!

Apparently, the game was a real ring-biter

"Grandma said I could play with these."

"I told you we know how to use them."

CMU Day

Hi All,
It's CMU day around our house. Jim's Chippewas are in the GMAC bowl, so Jim requested some appropriate attire.
Turns out, CMU won the game (vs. Troy) 44 - 41 in double overtime. How's that for excitement?!?

Lil' Spartans

Okay Spartan fans - this is what you've been waiting for! Our little Spartans made their MSU tailgate debut over the weekend. The weather wasn't the best, but we were plenty comfortable in our deluxe tailgate suite, fully enclosed in our EZ Ups, heated with propane tanks, and football on the tube (powered by the generator and via DishTV). Oh, and the food was to delish! We had deep fried turkey, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, and chocolate dump cake, just to name a few of the delicacies. Drew and Bree hung like champs for a few hours with us. Auntie Michelle came and picked them up a few hours before the evening game, so that Jim and I could attend. MSU made a great showing vs. Iowa ( # 6 in the nation). But in the end, we lost a heartbreaker in the last two seconds on the last play of the game. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the day and were glad we got to introduce the twinners to the art of tailgating.

GO STATE!!!

Hmmm, where are we and why are we here?

Oh, it's MSU - Go State!!!

Let's party!

We love when Auntie Sarah and her friends show up!

This ring is not bad, but I bet the turkey is better.

We know the turkey chef and carver personally.

Chip Off the Old Block

It is against my better judgment that I post this. The wounds are still fresh from a few weeks back. And I promise my MSU friends that we will have some Spartan gear posted in the near future to offset this........

Drew's impression of a Chippewa (aka Dad) sticking it to a Spartan (aka Mom) after the game........

We traveled to Evan and Rowan's birthday party on Sunday (another future post), and Jim insisted we make a pit stop in Mt. Pleasant for this. I tell you, the things I do for love! Rest assured Spartan fans, we'll get 'em next year!!!!

PS - Happy Birthday to Mom/Grandma, we'll see you Sunday to celebrate!
