Hi All,
Today we took some time to get outdoors and enjoy what's left of the snow. (And there's not much - yay!)
I guess the fresh air wore somebody out. Bree couldn't make it through lunch without a nap. Oh wait, she couldn't even make it to lunch. It was lights out once she got in her chair.
And, it was another haircut day for Drew. We've had very mixed results here! Our stylist was so nice. She was very patient and got Drew a balloon. But Drew resisted from the start. Despite all our efforts, he was an unhappy customer! It was way late in the game when we realized a sucker was a bit of magic. Note to me for next cut - bring the suckers early!

Hair Raising Experience
Hi All,
Well, we are back to the drawing board with Drew's haircuts. We took him to a local place for a cut (the fun kids' place was just too far to drive). He was not at all pleased with the experience! He wouldn't sit on the chair by himself, so Jim had to hold him. He fought every step of the way, turning his head this way and that. Needless to say, the results were also a bit jagged. I'm sure the stylist was happy to see us go! The bright spot for Drew - a sucker for all the pain and suffering we put him through.

End result - still mad

To the Barber
Hi All,
Drew went to the barber today. He is all wiggles when it comes to haircuts, so we thought we would try a specialty place that is designed for kids. We went to Snip-its. It was a very colorful place and Drew had a TV playing cartoons in front of his chair - lots of visual stimulation. But he may have been most interested in the comb we gave him to play with during the cut! All in all, he did great and looks like a big boy with his new haircut! I, on the other hand, made a colossal error in locking the doors and shutting the garage door when we left, leaving my dad and Bree stranded outside for the duration of the cut. Of course, Bree chose this time to mess her pants! So, instead of ice cream after the cut, we rushed home to their aid.

The Bows are Back!
Hi All,
Oh boy! We're working on the bows with Bree again. We seem to have the most success when we are able to distract her long enough for her to forget she is wearing one!
Distraction Technique #1: Goofy faces to get Bree to smile at camera with bow in hair

Lil' Puddin'
Hi All,
When my brother Darren was born, my sister and I loved him to pieces, but really wanted a baby sister whose hair we could style. Since it was a few more years before Sarah came along, we "practiced" on Darren from time to time. We would get whatever bows we could in his hair and call him our "lil' puddin'".
Drew should not have had too much to worry about on this front, having a twin sister and all. But, the problem is Bree has been adamantly rejecting wearing anything in or around her hair as of late. So, alas another "lil' puddin' " is born! I was so tired of trying to get a hair tie into Bree's hair, I turned to Drew, who seemed more than a little enthusiastic to give it a try - what a good sport he was! (Perhaps it was the novelty of it all!)

My very own lil' puddin'.
Isn't he precious?!?
Of course Bree was more than happy to assist in the removal of the hairband.
"Seriously Drew, why do you let Mom do this to you???"
And I must say, he was left with some very good '80s hair!
"Long live the '80s!"

Unofficial Haircut, Part Two
Hi All,
While my mom specifically told me we could not consider this Drew's first haircut (because he wasn't in a chair, cape, or anything official). So, we'll just call it the "unofficial" cut, and it was too funny to not share. Drew was in dire need of a trim, but would have nothing to do with sitting still for even a second - not in his high chair, or anywhere for that matter! My mom had to chase him around the house and get a snip here, a snip there when he allowed for it. We went from the end table to the sliding glass door, and I think Drew was snickering the whole way. We tried this back in March, too, with similar results (one non-compliant subject). So it seems in the haircut arena, the score remains Drew 2 - Haircutting Team - 0.
Haircuts aside, we did have fun the day Grandma visited. Unlike the haircut, Drew was quite pleased with the horsey leg rides........

To the end table we go
"Is there a problem here?"
And on to the sliding glass door.....
"I'm going to make you guys work for this!"

Girlie Hair
Hi All,
Bree has been sporting a new look, courtesy of her hair accessories. We are attempting to grow out her hair, and without accessories, it's all over her face. We call this look the "Pebbles" (you know, from the Flintstones). Her dad thinks it's comical. I think it's downright cute!
